Rodrigo Guzmán


Guatemalan archaeologist specialized in Geographic Information Systems and Landscape Archaeology. PhD in Integrated Anthropological Sciences (2022) from the University of Central Florida (UCF), in Orlando, Florida. Graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (2020) and a Master of Arts in Anthropology (2017), from the same university. BA in Archeology -cum laude- (2010) from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Master’s degree in Geomatics from Universidad Mariano Gálvez in Guatemala (2012-2014).

Honorary professor in the Faculty of History and Social Sciences and in the Faculty of Social Sciences of Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (2008-2011). Professor in the tourism program at the UVG-Altiplano campus (2013-2014).

He is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida. He has been a field archaeologist and Geographic Information Systems specialist in archaeological projects carried out at the sites: Holmul (2008), El Soch (2008-2009), La Corona (2009-2011), Holtun (2010-2021), Rio Seco (2013-2014), El Encanto (2018).

He is a member of the Guatemalan Archeology Association and the American Archeology Society, in the latter he has presented papers as lead author and co-author.
