Pedro José Pradillo y Esteban


Dr. Pradillo y Esteban is a contemporary multi-faceted plastic artist. In addition, he is a historian and develops an assiduous curatorial work for institutions in his hometown.  From his childhood he showed an enormous interest in the practice of drawing and sculpture, elaborating a naive surrealist world.  His formation is self-taught.  In 1987 he graduated in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Alcalá de Henares, and in 2003 he obtained a PhD in History.  

His curriculum has resulted in two converging paths: one, towards artistic creation, exhibiting his works in various individual and collective exhibitions since 1980; And another, as historian-researcher, which has been developed through multiple documentation works, and materialized in exhibitions of dissemination of the historical-artistic and cultural heritage of Guadalajara, Spain.

This dedication has been recognized with the following distinctions: Province of Guadalajara Award “Layna Serrano” of Historical and Ethnological Research (1995); Prize Provincial Exhibition of Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Castilla-La Mancha (1996); Prize “Manuel Corchado” of Historical-Archaeological Research on the Monuments of Spanish Military Architecture by the National Association of Friends of the Castles (2002); Club Siglo Futuro Prize (2003); Culture Prize of the Press Association of Guadalajara (2007); “Duchy of Silver” of Gentes de Guadalajara (2010); Honorary Military Engineer and Honorary Pilot of the Airborne Dirigibles (2013-2015).
