José Miguel Muñoz


PhD in History of Art; from 2006 to 2012, Professor of History and Theory of Art in Universidad Europea de Madrid.  From 1979 a 2016 Professor of Instituto “Beatriz Galindo” in Madrid. He has published several books: La Arquitectura del Manierismo en Guadalajara, Guadalajara, 1987; Fray Alberto de la Madre de Dios, Arquitecto, Santander, 1990; La Arquitectura Carmelitana, Ávila, 1990; Torres y Castillos de la Cantabria Medieval, Santander, 1993; La iglesia de San Andrés de Albalate de Zorita ( Sociología artística de una parroquial ), Guadalajara, 1995; La ciudad como obra de arte. Las claves del Urbanismo en la Antigua Grecia, Madrid, 1996; Hornos de cal en Vegas de Matute

(Segovia), Salamanca, 2007, jointly with the arqueologist Pablo Schnell and Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Paisaje en los Santuarios Españoles, Madrid, 2012.

He is coauthor of other books and the only Spanish historian in the Dizionario di Iconografía e arte cristiana, Milán, 2004-  and exposition catalogues in collaboration with and more than two hundred articles in scientific magazines about Architecture, Industrial Archeology, The Study of Castles, Lordly and Ecclesiastic Patronage, Urbanism and Art of the Ancient Mediterranean, Cantabria, Segovia, Guadalajara, Spain and Latin America, its principal lines of investigation. Moreover, he

has participated as a historian in numerous national and international congresses, as well as diverse projects in urbanistic intervention and restoration of architectural heritage.
